Earlier this month, Apple announced it was bringing a new ?Food & Drink? category to the App Store, which would not only include all of the apps found in the ?Cooking? section, but also all of the related apps that were getting lost under?categories?like ?Lifestyle? or ?Reference.?
The Cupertino company said that the new category would include apps that ?help users cook and bake, mix drinks, manage recipes, find new restaurants and bars, and learn what their friends like to eat and drink.? However, it will not include apps that focus on dieting, grocery shopping, coupon clipping, or related games.
Today the new ?Food & Drink? category has gone live in the App Store. It already boasts nearly 3,000 apps, according to 9to5Mac, and you can be sure that that number will continue to increase over time.
You may not find every app related to food and drink under this category, however. After announced the change on July 3, Apple gave developers until July 8 to opt out of having their apps included automatically. It?s unlikely that many decided to do this, but it?s?worth?remembering you may still see some related apps under different categories.
